The Philippine hospitality sector is experiencing a remarkable sustainable transformation as both international and homegrown brands embrace plant-forward dining. IHG Hotels & Resorts and Eco Hotels Philippines have each pledged to ensure 30% of their menu offerings are plant-based by 2025, establishing new benchmarks for environmental responsibility in the industry.
IHG’s six Philippine properties—including Crowne Plaza Manila Galleria, Holiday Inn & Suites Makati, and Holiday Inn Cebu City—will expand plant-based options across restaurants, room service, and banquet menus. “This initiative aligns with our global ‘Journey to Tomorrow’ sustainability program,” said Patria Puyat, Cluster General Manager at Crowne Plaza Manila Galleria. “It reflects our determination to reduce our environmental footprint while meeting the evolving preferences of today’s conscious travelers.”
Eco Hotels Philippines has become the first Filipino-owned hospitality brand to formalize a 30% plant-based commitment. Founded on principles of environmental preservation and community care, the company integrates this initiative into its broader sustainability framework, which includes green supply chains and eco-conscious design.
“Expanding our plant-based offerings reflects Eco Hotels’ core values of environmental preservation and community care,” said Don Ramon Bagatsing, Chairman and Chief Vibe Officer of Eco Hotels Philippines. “By committing to make at least 30% of our menu plant-based, we strengthen our mission to prioritize People, Planet, and Profit, while reinforcing our role as a sustainability leader in Filipino hospitality.”
“As a homegrown hospitality brand, we believe in leading by example,” added Alessandra Atienza, President and Chief Executive Officer of Eco Hotels Philippines. “By committing to more sustainable food choices, we’re not only meeting the growing demand for healthier and eco-friendly options, but also reinforcing our long-standing dedication to responsible tourism.”
These groundbreaking commitments position the Philippines as an emerging leader in sustainable hospitality, demonstrating that environmental progress and business success can thrive together.
