Gaming and casino facilities in Asia hold tremendous influence and impact on both the entertainment industry and the regional economy. These bustling hubs attract millions of visitors annually, making them an essential player in shaping consumer trends and driving societal change. Engaging with integrated resorts on protein supply is not just crucial, but necessary to create a meaningful impact on a larger scale. With this in mind, it’s easy to see why Lever’s collaborative work with Melco Resorts & Entertainment in Macau on their cage-free egg commitment is vital to driving more humane protein choices within the influential gaming sector in Asia.

Working hand in hand with Lever Foundation, Melco is swiftly progressing towards their goal of ending the use of caged eggs across their entire portfolio by 2025. In their recent sustainability report, they proudly announced that City of Dreams Manila has been sourcing 100% cage-free eggs since March 2022, after working closely with Lever. With most of their F&B outlets in Macau following suit, their vision of a cage-free future is well on track.

Through fruitful collaborations with Macau’s egg distributors, the availability of cage-free eggs in the local market has experienced remarkable growth. This positive development brings hope for laying hens, as they move closer to a life free from confinement. However, it’s crucial to recognize that true transformation for these animals can only be achieved by reducing or eliminating our reliance on eggs and actively promoting alternative, cruelty-free options.

The news has already made an impact within the gaming sector, as Melco joins other leading companies in the hospitality and gaming industry, such as Okada Manila, Solaire Resorts and Casino and Newport World Resort in the Philippines who have also worked with Lever and pledged to source only cage-free eggs for their food and beverage operations.
